Senate Committee to Hold Arctic Drilling Hearing in Alaska

The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will hold a field hearing in Anchorage, Alaska on Oct. 11, entitled “Preparing for Offshore Drilling in the Arctic: Lessons Learned from the First Season.” This hearing will examine the lessons learned following the first season of exploratory drilling activity in the Arctic.

The Hearing will be held at the University of Alaska, Anchorage Campus in room 106 – Gorsuch Commons. Those scheduled to testify include David Hayes, deputy secretary for the Department of the Interior; Laura Furgione, acting director for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and Rear Admiral Thomas Ostebo of the U.S. Coast Guard.
