manufactures EASA- and FAA-certified helicopter and airplane flight simulators for companies and organizations around the world. The Madrid, Spain–based company has developed more than 20 models, from advanced aviation training device (AATD) to flight training device (FTD) Level 7 models for the FAA market and from flight and navigation procedures trainer (FNPT) II to FTD Level 3 for the EASA market.
Entrol was established in 2005 by brothers Luis Olarte, who has a background in business, and Pedro Olarte, an aeronautical engineer. In the early days, Pedro developed all the software while Luis learned how to design, develop, and integrate the hardware to meet the company’s goals of quality and reliability. Today, Pedro is in charge of the research and development department, assisted by a growing team of talented engineers, and Luis focuses on general management.
Entrol has steadily grown during the past 16 years, with 2020 being a positive year that saw facility and employee expansion despite the pandemic. Last year, the company celebrated its first US office, in Miami, Florida, and announced the opening of a showroom for its H135 FTD Level 5 simulator at Sunny Aviation in Denver, Colorado. Entrol also launched new Bell 505 FTD Level 6 and H125 FTD Level 5 simulators.
The company is currently working on the development of an H145 FTD Level 5 simulator. Long-term, the R&D department is developing a virtual-reality hoist trainer and a night-vision goggles visual system.
Entrol’s portfolio includes simulators for the following aircraft:
- Airbus A320, H125, H135, AS365, EC155, and EC120
- Bell 206, 505, 412, and 429
- Leonardo AW109 and AW139
- Cabri G2 helicopters

These simulators feature authentic visuals and real-world avionics packages, including the Pro Line 21 glass cockpit, FMS-3000, BendixKing, Collins avionics control box, Becker ACU6100, and Garmin products. The helicopter simulators are also designed to create an authentic flying environment by physically replicating real flying conditions, including vortex ring state, translational lift, turbulence, engine operation, and overspeed.
Entrol’s certified simulators are installed worldwide, with helicopter customers including Héli-Union Training Center (France), Kaman Corp. (USA), the Turkish Police, Vietnam Helicopter Corp., NHV (Belgium), Helikorea (South Korea), the Spanish National Police Force, and the Chilean Air Force.
An OEM, Entrol manufactures all its products in-house with its own technology, allowing the company the freedom and flexibility to meet current and future regulatory requirements. As a private company, it also aims to meet customer needs quickly and efficiently.
