In 1986, with a carefully conceived vision, a single helicopter, and a handful of enthusiastic employees, launched Canada’s first scheduled helicopter service. From that single helicopter, flying eight times a day between downtown Vancouver and downtown Victoria, Helijet has grown into a dynamic company, with operations in Richmond, Vancouver, Victoria, Sandspit, Nanaimo, Prince Rupert, and Haida Gwaii.
Helijet’s fleet of medium and large helicopters is maintained, flown, and administered by a dedicated staff of more than 150 employees; its pilots and crews have considerable experience in West Coast terrain and conditions. Helijet is proud of its growth and accomplishments and looks forward to many more decades of service.
The Helijet charters team has the people, expertise, and equipment to meet their clients’ flight requirements. Providing charter aerial support for business, industry, and sightseeing, Helijet is ready to help clients realize their visions for that project or that perfect day.
Air Medical Services
Helijet is one of the largest providers of air medical services in western Canada. Based at Vancouver International Airport (CYVR) and the Prince Rupert/Seal Cove Heliport (CBY5), Helijet Air Medical operates Sikorsky S-76 helicopters on behalf of the British Columbia Air Ambulance Services.
The Helijet Sikorsky S-76 aircraft shown below is configured to accommodate up to two stretcher patients and four medical attendants. The aircraft is primarily used in patient transfers within a 100-mile radius of its Richmond or Prince Rupert base, to or from hospitals, airports, and/or on-scene calls.
Whether responding to life-threatening emergency calls or requests for patient transfers, Helijet provides a vital air ambulance lifeline for communities throughout British Columbia. From their bases, a dedicated team of pilots and engineers are on call 24/7 to aid the province’s adult and infant ambulance services.
Helijet’s nearly two decades of air medical service gives its management and crew a wealth of knowledge on aircraft requirements, training, operations, and management of equipment. The air medical operations team share their expertise in these and other areas with consulting clients.
The Helijet fleet includes multirole Bell 206L LongRangers, Eurocopter AS350 AStars, as well as twin-engine Sikorsky S-76 helicopters and a Pilatus PC-12.
