Causal Factor Analysis: More Useful than RCA?

When organizations conduct safety investigations, their purpose should be to prevent the hazard or incident from happening again. Often, root cause analysis (RCA) falls short of this goal because it may ignore more actionable causal factors. Join us to learn the causal factor analysis technique, including how easy it is for people to read and understand a report that uses this format.

Different Personalities: Results of a Risk Study - Tuesday Option

To better meet the demands of busy schedules, HAI is pleased to offer this popular course twice, at different times on different days.

Our individual personalities can negatively affect our attitudes toward risk management and decision-making as a crew. In this session, we will examine the results of a two-year study about risk tolerance, helicopter pilots, and helicopter air ambulance flight crews. The study used the Risk Type Compass, based on the five-factor personality theory. Comparisons between pilots and crew, military- or civilian-trained pilots, single or dual, and age differences will be shared, and we’ll look at personality successes and failures.
