On the eve of an FAA public hearing in College Park, Ga., on the Part 23 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), HAI President and CEO Matt Zuccaro and other general aviation leaders yesterday applauded FAA efforts to improve safety and make it easier to bring new products to market for the light general aviation sector, while strongly encouraging the agency to finish its work on the issue by the end of the year.

An International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) working group met in Montreal this week to address the issue of fatigue risk management in the helicopter industry. HAI Director of Safety Outreach Stan Rose attended on behalf of HAI and the International Federation of Helicopter Associations (IFHA).

HAI's education department recently issued a request for proposal "from qualified persons or vendors for the creation of assessment-based courses to be included in the HAI Certificate Program.  These courses will be conducted online through a learning management system." The deadline to submit a proposal is this coming Monday, April 11.

HAI last week attended three days of meetings of the FAA’s newly chartered micro-UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) aviation rulemaking committee (ARC) to ensure safety of people in the air and on the ground remains paramount in the rulemaking process. Three more days of meetings are scheduled for this week.
